Land and finance were seen as the largest barriers for new housing delivery, and a number of views supported the push for local government to be allowed to borrow on their existing housing assets to fund new homes.

It was also widely acknowledge that innovative design and the incorporation of renewable energy and smart systems was to be encouraged and in many cases, required for all new social and affordable developments.

Overall, the session concluded that low carbon modular solutions would and should play a significant role in meeting the UK Government’s housing target.
